Ijen volcano, morning one of one. There was no re-take of this one, which was unfortunate because "clear" moments were measured in terms of seconds. Of course the previous three days were clear. One of the perils of traveling during the rain season.

On the other hand you obtained unique photos that you wouldn't have gotten if it was clear. Always a tradeoff with weather not getting the shots you anticipated of in advance instead getting shots that show a different side to a scene.
Happened to me when I rode the White Pass and Yukon Railroad out of Skagway, Alaska. I had hoped to take a picture of the old Cantilever bridge, alas it was clouded in but there was a little view of it and was clouded in and as I look back the pictures I obtained with the few seconds of clearing I couldn't have asked for a more interesting shot.
The hatchlings didn't enter the light much while I was watching them, but here's my first Loon Hatchling shot of the year. Hoping to get more soon, but also unsure about going back. I was pretty disgusted by most of the bird photographers this morning stressing the hell out of this poor Loon.
The Ijen volcano serves as one of the prime sources of almost perfectly pure sulphur. The mining is grueling to put it kindly. I didn't descend into the mine because I'm physically not able to, nor did I have a particular desire to do so, but these guys carry ~70kg on their shoulders three times a day over 400m elevation difference in an environment that's toxic at best. Then they truck it down 600m elevation difference on the pictured carts, on something that only generously resembles a path, only to be paid pennies for the pound.
