I had been considering adding a black chrome M-A to pair with the M4-2 but wasn't having much luck with my search. The next step was to look at black chrome M4's. Leica didn't make many of them and they were the last M cameras to come out of the Wetzlar factory before manufacturing moved to Canada, Most of the ones for sale were located in Japan and had high import fees. Igor's Camera had one listed but it had already been sold. I saw one on the Tamarkin site. It was a 50th Anniversary edition and the condition was marked E+. The had it, I bought it and it arrived yesterday.
The camera was in it's original box with a matching serial number. Even the plastic bag the camera was in had the factory sticker with its serial number. When I started using the controls they felt stiff and thought it was just due to age but I noticed little things like the strap lugs were unmarked. As I worked through the speeds it occurred to me the stiffness wasn't due to age, it was because the camera had never been used. The speeds are accurate, the finder is clear and the rangefinder patch is bright. I had planned on sending it to DAG for service but now I'll just use it.

Congrats, this one looks really nice, and it seems it was kept as collector item unused for many years until it found its way to the dealership for sale. It is rare to find a Leica M camera item this old in such condition. Enjoy!

Congratulations! Really nice looking M4. Years ago, I had discussion with Sherry Krauter, s long time Leica repair person, about different Leica M bodies. She told the Leica M4 built around the time of your copy is the strongest. Enjoy!
