For the record my rucksack is just a run of the mill cheap hiking back pack.
I was going to take a messenger bag, but the amount of walking we’ll be doing over the next 4 days I thought a backpack would be easier… certainly more comfortable. Plus leaves my hands free. With the messenger bag I often found it would swing round everytime I bent over or knelt down… no such worries with a backpack.
I just toted up what this kit has cost me, all bought used off eBay
R100 £250
14-30 £115
55-210 £140
So £505 plus a few bits I added like half leather case, wrist strap, 3rd party lens hood - that I’ve since chopped 15mm off
So I’m trying to be pragmatic, it’s all just cheap gear. Hopefully I’ll get a few pictures
👍🏻
I’ll take the sd card reader adapter so I can upload the shots to my phone each evening just as a back up.
This is the exact usecase where cameras like the X100 line shine. The 6D is ridiculously big to tote around just to put the 40 STM on it (though I do love that lens).
If you want more flexibility, I'd look at renting a Z50 II and the new Z16-50/2.8 as a far better one-and-done light and small travel setup.

Funnily enough I was thinking similar
Just take the canon M100 with 22/2 ( as well as my phone)
My son isnt going, he was always the catalyst for my photography…photos of him. So, I’m not entirely sure why I’m taking pictures?? I think it’s habit… but my subject won’t be there. As for cafe scenes… not sure why I need pictures of strangers 🤣
My phone can snap the Eiffel Tower.
This is why I mentioned I’ll be deciding what to do wigh all the gear I’ve amassed- my needs have changed dramatically.
When I was in Paris last summer I carried the Canon M6ii and 22/2 "pancake" and EFS 55-250 and a cell phone
Probably used the cell phone most of the time
