All it did was swap tyranny of the majority for tyranny of the minority. So, now the majority suffers because of the will of the minority.

The reason for the electoral college is so small populated states have some power, otherwise do want places like California and New York controlling everything. I suppose if you want one party rule your against it. We are a Republic not a Democracy. It was genius to only allow 2 Senators per state so the small states have the same vote as large states. Too bad most voters don't know any of this.

Really frustrating that the tariffs might not go back to the people paid them in the first place. Would have been a wonderful injection of money in our hobby, unexpectedly getting back these funds!

Gerrymandering, voter suppression, out of control dark money, weaponizing the Justice Department, spending $1,000,000,000 daily to wage war on Iran that could actually help Americans instead of creating ill will and chaos worldwide for starters.

Time to abolish the Electoral College.
Are you aware of the Virginia attempt to Gerrymander? By weaponizing do you mean trying to put a candidate in jail so he can't run for president or sueing to keep him off the ballot in some states?

Wow, I never thought I'd hear slavery described as "genius" in 2026. Good thing you're out there advocating for higher taxes, though. Stick with the party line!

Are you aware of the Texas* changes that gerrymander? By weaponizing do you mean trying to put a convicted felon in the presidency?
Back on topic, the odds that any of us will ever see any of the thousands of dollars in unlegistlated and illegal federal import taxes imposed on us by the executive are slim to none.
* Unlike in Texas, one of the worst examples of gerrymandering in the country, where the new, permanent congressional districts were imposed by the gerrymandered state legislature against the wishes of the citizens, the proposed changes in Virginia are subject to a vote of the people of that state, as they were in California where the VOTERS overwhelmingly approved them as a _temporary_ measure to respond to what Texas did.

😄
So the consumer paid higher prices, but now the companies who passed those cost are getting paid off by the US taxpayer? You'd almost think it was some kind of coordinated swindle!

Regions with lower population densities were given more influence in the US system because slave owners (who became former slave owners) wanted to keep their relative power in the society. That's what it's all about, not about the common people in lower populated states getting more power.
It took a civil war to get rid of the three-fifths provision, but we're still stuck with the electoral college.

Most hilarious part is, it's the Democrats who forced the tariff refunds. They're also the only ones gullible enough to think that the companies receiving them would actually hand the money back to the consumers they charged extra! Typical fare for that side of the fence. Promises made, promises never kept, but they still keep voting in that direction without fail.

Where are you getting slavery? In the Senate, Rhode Island , Delaware and others have the same power as California and New York. Do you think Rhode Island was a slave state?

Sounds basically exactly like the past administrations. I guess they are all the same.

If you believe for one moment this administration is the same as any other, you haven’t been following recent history or the news. This has never happened before in the US.

Are we forgetting who made the problem? Are we blaming the people who intervened to correct the problem? I am not "gullible enough" to expect a personal rebate, but I am thankful this foolish policy will not be carried forth into the future. I will certainly keep "voting in that direction" to preserve a democratic America for my son and his children.

I’ll posit that if you think it’s so drastically different you haven't either. As accused: gerrymandering, vote manipulation, out of control dark money, weaponizing the justice department and spending billions domestically and internationally to benefit the machine… not so different.
To the particular topic of tariffs, no it was never going to actually offset taxes etc but if you believe the trade imbalance and economic trajectory of the US was sustainable much longer I have an A1 II I’m willing to sell for a thousand bucks. Just send F&F payment and I’ll get it right in the mail.
Aside: wonder when this thread gets locked…
