I’m considering blacking out my Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 GM II. I found AlphaGvrd as an option and would like to hear from people who actually own it. Are you satisfied with the product, or would you recommend avoiding it?
I have my 50-150 GM, 300 GM, 400 GM, and 600 GM all wrapped in their product. My 400 has had the same wrap on it since 2021 and it still looks great. I have had no issues removing it when I've sold lenses in the past and it has done an incredible job keeping my lenses protected where ever I end up taking it.
I have it on the same lens and just about all my lenses actually. It's a quality product and I would recommend it to anyone. Gives me peace of mind that the lense is protected from minor dings and scratches.
They are good products and most of their wraps are textured so feels high quality. I almost always get the black matrix on black gear. Anything lighter color wraps just looks odd and shows imperfections more.
I wrapped my 70-200 GM II in black, and a picture is below. You can see that the black on white ruthlessly exposes any gap in the skin, but I’m happy with it and would do it again. The only thing I would do differently is probably not apply the skin to the aperture ring and leave it exposed with the white color. I think it ruins the tactile feeling of the aperture ring and makes it harder to turn.
I now cover all my lenses and cameras in either Alphagvrd skins or RolanPro neoprene covers. Below, are some old file photos showing some examples.
Having tried many skin designs/patterns over the years, I have settled on the Alphagvrd "Graphite" design for all my non-white lenses and RolanPro black for my white lenses. I use Obsidian Black for my cameras. The photo, below, is a Fuji Lens with the RolanPro Camo pattern that I no longer use (prefer black).
I just installed black RolanPro covers on my GM 300mm f2.8 and GM 50-150mm f2 and love the look and extra protection of the neoprene; plus, the ability for more stealth shooting. I will be adding these neoprene covers to the remainder of my white lenses (even the ones already skinned with Alphagvrd covers).
One of the great features of using these covers is that, when I go to sell my equipment, I peel the skins off and the lenses/cameras look brand-new, so they are easier to sell. The neoprene covers are also comfortable to hold and allow you to rest the lenses on various surfaces for stability without damaging the lens.

Yup, I use them too on most of my lenses. They’re great, I use the comic strip one and at weddings people always comment on it. They actually recognize me from my lenses. Tip - Use them on lenses you love because if you replace it or sell it you’ll have to get more skins, and they’re pricey.
