Last week I was in my yard and I noticed a bird nest in the bushes near my back door. Turned out to be a cardinal nest and for the past week I've been taking pictures and videos of the nest and the cardinal parents. A little bittersweet moment for me, since I'm moving out soon and won't be able to see the young cardinals fledge and leave the nest. I would have liked to see the young cardinals fly around my yard and see them grow up but its been a real treat following their progress.
Video was shot semi-hand held with the 300 2.8 and 2x TC. I used a broom handle as improvised monopod to keep it a bit steady haha.
Female sitting on the nest incubating the eggs
Male bringing the female food while she sits on the nest
This was a cold and rainy day, she sat on the nest most of the day
The birds got used to me with the door open and wouldn't fly away if I limited my movement
