This American Bittern made a brief stop at a park very close to home. I spent a late afternoon and evening sitting quietly at the edge of the pond, waiting for it to move.
Over that time, it made a few appearances along the pond edge and gave me a chance to watch it hunt. It was only seen for two days before moving on.
While I waited, I also practiced flight shots on the local grackles.

I am so stinkin' envious, I haven't been lucky enough yet but my time is coming for an encounter. Excellent set on the Bittern and cool shot of the Grackle on of my favorite 'dark' birds that have pop.
