Open Source raw editor, that has (at least in my opinion) a nicer interface than many of the other OSS raw editors, Windows, Linux, Mac and Android (apparently).
I've been playing with it a bit and seems to do a reasonable job, very small install and runs pretty quickly, seems to have a lot of the basic tools implemented reasonably well. Looks like the developer is also adding builtin support for AI tools (locally hosted) which is a positive for some and a strong negative for others.
The output from Canon CR3 is way dark and off color. I don't know if it is using appropriate profiles.
That software also changed the associations of CR3 files to itself. That's uncool without asking.
Changing the file association without asking isn't cool. Given the OSS nature of the software not surprising there are some oddities with the handling of the different RAW formats.
The image output reminds me a bit of PhotoNinja when it was still being produced.
I don't have time to do anything more, and was restoring the image not long after.
It's nice to have at least something if Abode or DXO suddently decides it needs to phone home and I'm in the middle of nowhere.
I have not tried it in Ubuntu. It should work in Mint then too?
It doesn't interpret Nikon compressed RAW files, so that's a no go for me. Converting first to DNG is not the answer. Nonetheless, I played around with it and RapidRaw is a nifty little editor for those who don't have alternatives.
