I was always interested in their older spot meter but stuck with my Pentax 1 degree meter from many years ago and a newer one from Sekonic. If I was in the market for a spot meter now I would definately try this one out.
I've been looking for a spot meter for some large format shooting, was going to buy the previous version except it was out of stock. I guess that's why! I'm getting one and will give it a try. Doesn't seem as small as the previous version but seems sturdier and no longer 3D printed.
Yeah, it definitely seems sturdier. I might have missed it, but is the new version more weather-resistant?
I have the first generation of this meter and it's pretty good but I just don't use a spot meter often enough to upgrade. I've mostly used it in difficult lighting situations as a single-spot meter, and when I shot a few rolls of Provia and Velvia I used its averaging feature that allows you to meter the highlights you want to preserve and the shadows where you want to preserve detail and it gives you an average reading that should capture both, assuming your film has enough latitude.
