p.1 #1 · American Oystercatchers trade places on there nest
About 1/4 of the American Oystercatcher couples at Nickerson Beach were incubating eggs when I visited earlier in the week. They will trade places on the eggs for about a month and then we get to see there fuzzy chicks.

These are amazing morris! I have only seen this bird on Maryland PBS from the Blackwater WL Refuge's bird migration series.
Excellent!
Dan
Thank you Dan,
I've been photographing them for many years and tend to show up when they arrive in mid March so I'm alone with them. This allows them to get to know me and I've had them parade there chicks to me which is a joy.

John says he can't get that low anymore, he can but he just can't get up if he does
Nice work on the set, low POV really impacts these nicely IMO. You had some nice soft light giving a nice look to these. Great job getting the tops of the eggs too!

I wonder how he gets out of bed?
Thank you Karl,
I had lots going for me with this set except the tall grass and I managed to use it in my compositions

Thank you Gary,
The nesting area is a very pretty environment and is roped off from the bathing areas. This beach has dunes, grass and lovely sand. I try to including capturing all of this including the sea which can dramatic when there are larger waves.

I love how, in the third photo, one of the birds is looking straight into the camera. It almost feels like it was intentionally posing for you! I also really love the composition and how beautifully the vivid orange beaks stand out against the soft colors of the grass and sand. Such a lovely capture.

Really striking images Morris! What a cool looking bird! I really like the first and the last, although they are all good. I love the color contrast with their red/orange eyes and beaks alongside the green grass - well composed and captured!

Thank you Scott,
Nickerson Beach is a fabulous place to shoot with the grass you observed, the sandy beach and the sea as well as dunes covered in vegetation. I love to take advantage of all of them in my compositions.
