p.1 #1 · Sold Canon: Megadap or Fringer for my L glass?
I sold my Canon body, so I now have 4 lenses sitting unused. My Zf arrived almost a week ago and I still haven't taken it out, since I'm torn between adapters, Megadap or Fringer.
I'm a hobbyist who shoots dogs, environmental portraits, and the occasional sports event. My biggest priority is reliable subject and eye tracking. It would really bother me if these adapted lenses failed to lock onto the eye and the focus point kept wandering around.
I know there's other 3rd party adapters - I'm just going with the 2 most popular and, presumably most reliable. I know I'm not the first person going through this internal debate.

i use the v1 of the Fringer adapter and I have never found any issues and I even use it with the 85/1.2 .. also no issues with oddball lenses like the TS-E lenses (i have the 17, 24, 50 and 90)
the build quality is solid and absolutely no play when used with the Z8 and Z9. The v2 is better because of weather sealing.

Thanks for the reply. Out of curiosity, did you ever try any of the other adapters on the market?

EF to Z? i haven't tried anything else.
i have the first gen Megadap Sony E to Z which died on me (even with infrequent use) and i paid some 50 USD to have it shipped back to China to have it replaced under warranty...which left a bad taste in my mouth ..made me wary of buying another Megadap product.
for EF to L (Leica) I have both the Viltrox and Sigma . they both work but IMO doesn't compare with Fringer in terms of precision and build quality (both the Viltrox and Sigma have little bit of play..kind of annoying)...Viltrox is OK but the only reason i ended up with both Viltrox and Sigma is because Fringer doesn't have an EF-L available.

Another Fringer user here, I have the EF-NZ II, so second version. I only have the EF100-400ii and it works really great on a z8. Can be tricky say after sunset at 400mm when it will hunt unless you can find some edge with enough contrast.

Thanks everyone. I ended up ordering the Fringer EF-NZ II.
I really like the way Canon's EF-EOS R adapter fit and functioned with EF glass on the R6. Nothing loose, no play - it was solid. I'm positive the Fringer will perform the same, based on the feedback.
