I like it !

A good interpretation of the theme. Like the B&W conversion.
I would just remove the black triangle at the upper left. Distracting to me.

Achingly effective. The composition forces all the facial information up into the cramped corner, leaving such a vast space for the missing person. The way her hand rests gently on the sheet makes it so poignant.

I agree this is a profoundly powerful image! Any widow or widower would know this is the absolute black hole of negative space. Excellent image!
