Went to the opening night of "Brigadoon" at the Pasadena Playhouse. Gorgeous venu. Took this just before they said 'no photography allowed' and raised the curtain.
New to me M8.2 testing around the house with my conscripted model. I was hesitant on this but, really kind of like it. I find the colors and the black and white with contrast really up my alley. And the shutter sound reminds me of a polaroid, but I kind of like it, unless I'm in a church maybe...
In fact I had the M ver ii briefly as I got a new one from Mapcamera but the focus calibration was off that it'll focus at infinity when the marking is at infinity, which was NOT the standard Leica calibration as it front focused with shop's camera too. They had only one in stock so I returned and refunded. Lovely size and weight though! Would have kept the lens and shooting happily despite the short coming...better luck next time.

I love how you used this lens and the previous post too, but this set reminded me why I eventually sold it back then, mid zone rendering plus the CA seems be the worst case scenario here?

I'm not entirely sure I understand. Those images were shot wide open at f1.2 because I love shallow depth of field, so focus at infinity in my images is of course going to be nonexistent. When I got the lens I put it through the standard calibration tests and it seemed to be spot on. As for CA - call me weird but when I'm shooting into the sun especially during golden hour I not only expect to see it (as I would in almost all lenses) but actually embrace it as (to me) it's part of the charm I look for in my images. The Voigt 40/1.2 isn't a lens I'd recommend to anyone who's interested stopping down to achieve infinity focus. I've got other lenses far better for that purpose and that have the optical perfection that seem to be what you like - such as my cron 35 APO.
No I was talking about the focus calibration that's clearly off, in my experience M lenses don't actually focused on infinity by setting it at infinity (which will focus pass infinity), the shop staff noticed it too so I got a refund.
I do love the character out of it at 1.2 but sometimes I find the CA isn't that pleasant when there's strong light. With that being said I still want one someday, it really has a lot of texture (micro contrast?) in rendering which I love.

I own and use the Voigt 40 f/1.2 but the frequency of use has dropped right off since I've been the using the Q3 43 APO. For me the Voigt is just too soft used wide open and not really useful until f/2 and even then it's not a patch on the Leica APO at f/2 which is just gorgeous throughout the aperture range.
