Re: Official: Voigtlander 65mm f/2 Macro Apo-Lanthar for $999
Hi
I think people are talking about size because it has a potential to be a normal lens, a walk around, being 65.
85 clearly is not normal for most so it doesn’t matter.

Regarding size, I am debating about lenses to take on a trip overseas. I am set on taking the 12-24, my CV 40/1.2, and a long telephoto I love, the Leica R 180/2.8. I am debating between my Loxia 85/2.4 and the CV 65/2. I was comparing stats today and noted that the CV 65 is heavier, but not by much: Loxia is 1.31 lb (594g), the CV is 1.38 (625g). I don't hear folks complaining about the Loxia 85 being too heavy. Now, the CV is chunkier, but hardly huge. To me, it is without question worth the size and weight penalty. I don't know of another lens that is as good anywhere near its focal length and aperture without being a good bit larger. Don't talk to me about the Leica M 75/2 as this is quite a bit better corrected and sharper at large apertures. Otus 55? Okay, but quite a bit bigger.
