Strong vignetting and soft corners are to be considered compromises ? In a $1300 lens ?? I don't think so. Here's my $200 10-20 AF-P on a $350 D3400. I'll keep my $2500, thank you very much.
Yup, a 10mm DX lens stopped down to f/10 is an apt comparison for a 14mm FF lens at f/4. I am not saying that the 10-20 AFP and 3400 are not a terrific option when shooting in bright daylight on a perfect day fully stopped down. But under those conditions the same can be said of almost any cellphone. And I will be the last to argue that there is a significant correlation between lens quality and image worthiness. I am off now to find some apples and oranges to blow $2500 on.
On a more productive note, the latest images posted here show a much more controlled vignetting. My 14-30Z arrived today and I took some quick snaps indoor and also don't see the significant vignetting with some of the images earlier in the thread. Have not tried without corrections though.
P.S. This fairly annoying "review" was posted on YouTube and it once again shows the gross vignetting of the 14-30 without the lens corrections. Kind of disappointing for the price point. I need to run some low light tests to see how much bring up the edges screws things up in noise limited images.
