I just came back after a 4 days trip to the valley during the most recent Artic cold front, lowest temperature when I was photographing was on Wednesday morning at -30F. My primary objective was to photograph wolves, but I wasn't lucky enough to find any in a photographing distance. There was an elk kill in the area while I was there which was about a mile from the road, we were not allowed to go close enough for photographing (there was an official scavenger study was going on that carcass). Well, I got to shoot something else, changed the focus to the easily found bisons . Also it wasn't extremely difficult to find River Otters and Golden Eagles in action although Golden eagle shot was bit of challenge in adverse conditions and at bit of a distance. Anyway, Lamar valley is beautiful when covered in snow!
