This could be a backfocus issue. You can use calipers to ensure your backfocus is dead on. I would also recommend shooting flats.
See the post above by 'wsbrown'. On his recommendation I have some shims ordered that hopefully will solve my star issues - yes, most likely backfocus spacing. I think I have some calipers in the garage, my husband uses them when changing brakepads...I think?
