Re: Voigtlander 28mm f/1.5 Nokton Review

Great review @fredmiranda! Just wonderful. Thanks for all the work. A couple thoughts.

1) I am surprised you found the flare resistance excellent. I found it to produce more veiling flare, and noticeable ghosting in situations I didn't find especially bad. Do you have any direct comps with lenses like the CV 28/2 or Loxia 21/2.8 or CV 35/1.7 or Tamron 17-28/2.8? Those lenses to me are excellent. Below is a photo from last weekend WO. Challenging situation, but I was surprised how many artifacts I got. If you haven't don't a heads up with a CV 28/2, I can do one when the sun comes out. I am curious!

2) On your infinite tests, its hard to tell, I think because of haze, but the CV 28/2 looks higher contrast. Did you fine the lenses to have the same micro-contrast?

3) I wonder at what distance the 28/1.5 becomes better at the rule of 1/3rd and outer mid-frame? At infinite in your test, the performance looks much more similar to the CV 28/2 than it did about a meter away in my tests. The difference when both were shot at f2 was pronounced in mine. Interesting to know for people shooting in the 1-3 meter zone. I would very often shoot WO at .8 - 3 meters.

I really think CV did a pretty amazing job here, especially considering the price and size. And given CV pretty much copied the 28 Lux draw, it's going to be very challenging to logically choose the Lux given the size and price difference. At least with other alternatives, there's sometimes a big difference in style and draw like a CV 35/1.5 or CV 35/1.2 and the FLE.
