I had no opinion on that style of lens foot until...
I was walking about 15-20 paces behind a fella carrying his $uper/tele rig by the lens' lens foot. Just like I always do with my 150-400.
I heard a crunchy crash sound, looked over, and saw his body/lens laying on the ground while he was looking at the opened(and now empty) lens foot in his hand.
Ouch!!! something I'll never forget.
