I found the 23mm f/1.4 WR and 56mm f/1.2 APD lenses easier to shoot with on the X-E3 than the Fujicron F2.0 lineup (I had the 23mm, 35mm, and 50mm one after another). The X-E5 handles a bit better than the X-E3. I wouldn’t worry about it and would just go for the best option.

But they are a little big, aren't they?

“Big” in the Fuji X system is relative. The 56/1.2 is about the same size as a typical 50/1.4 in an Fx system. But yes, being fast optically, they’re larger than optically slower options at similar focal.

The fact that it's the same size isn't really a selling point. It ought to be quite a bit smaller (smaller mount, smaller image circle, etc)...

Uh, faster aperture is the primary determinant of lens size. There are many lenses that cover 4x5 film that aren’t much bigger than the 35/2 Fuji.

Arguably focal length is the primary determinant of lens size, but, in any case, the 56 is a rather large lens for the Fuji system, especially on an XE5. Still crossing my fingers that Fuji would release a smaller 56 f1.4.

But then, again many companies release big lenses; I wouldn't call it an aberration per se. Nor would I just wave it away because other lenses from different brands made for different systems are also the same size.
