Northern Hawk Owl chilling on a stick
This little video shows a Northern Hawk Owl perched on a stick chilling out and looking around his patch. It was a dreary, overcast day with no definition or colours in the sky and almost no colour in the owl. Normally I would not keep or post a video with such poor image quality, but I really liked this perky little Owl and I wanted a reminder of it.
Another reason I kept the footage was because of how hard it was to get it. I got up at 4:30 am and drove an hour in bad weather to get to the general location before sunrise. I walked 2.5 kilometers with a 30-pound backpack plus a 10-pound fluid head and tripod. I stepped into a groundhog hole hidden by the snow, went flying and almost broke my freakin' neck... and got covered in burrs! I'm pushing 76 years old now so this kind of stuff is no longer a walk in the park for me (although I love it!). So yea, you're darn right I'm going to keep the footage! !!!
