Re: Canon video thread for hybrid shooters...

Here's some recent practice footage that I shot in Canon C-Log3 yesterday. These Ducks are actually my first real wildlife subjects that I've shot in C-log3 since I began working with it almost 3 months ago. Up until now I have only shot buildings, rooms inside our house, sunrises and sunsets, and a couple of headshots of myself. It's been a long, hard winter with very little wildlife around. But today I was just itching to see how C-log3 would do with some actual real live birds with bright colours. So I headed down to the river despite the -22 C wind chill weather (I've got to be nuts! 😵‍💫 )

From other people's footage that I have seen on the internet I was expecting it to produce rather drab, low-contrast images with dull, muted colours, but boy was I wrong! This footage really pops! And the things is, I did next to nothing to these clips in post production. In Davinci Resolve I did a standard C-Log3 to Rec 709 conversion using two Color Space Transform nodes and nothing else. None of the clips in this video received any saturation or contrast; a couple needed the dark shadows lifted ever so slightly, plus they all had the standard amount of sharpening applied. No noise reduction used anywhere. I'm pretty happy with the results.

Feedback welcome.

Rudy
