Congratulations on the new camera. I hope your taking the risk brings you many years of wonderful photography. The Leica cameras that set the stage for all modern photography was actually based on taking risk when Ernst Leitz famously said, "My decision is final. We will take the risk." And began the production of the camera and built the company that became Leica.
Yes, and today they don't even dare to install an EVF with innovative focusing aids in their revolutionary manual focus icon, the M EV. Instead, they're reaching into the parts bin and even installing the old processor to keep the investment in this "test balloon" as low as possible and the profit margin as high as possible. These days, they prefer to pour that money into advertising and lavish events for influencers. How times change. The good Ernst would probably be turning in his grave.
Honestly NiftyFifty you have told us how unhappy you are with your current life circumstances including how they are negatively affecting your beloved photography hobby. Even forcing you to use equipment you don't like. We are all sympathetic and really hope things get better for you. But you don't really need to interject your misery into so many threads with negative posts like this one.
The EV-1 which I happened to test pre-release is not my choice, and clearly not yours either. But it has filled a need for many, and is selling very well for Leica. Despite your feelings on the camera, it is a desired and viable product which is gaining a good following.
Think positive and life most often follows...
