Sony A7CII & Tamron 25-200 vs Nikon Z5II & 24-120

I had 6700 and got rid of it because of two reasons. Too small for hand and useless EVF (at least for me).
I assume A7C has similar EVF?

I think they have the same EVF. What bothers me more is that the A6700 has better ergonomics and a better button layout than the A7CII.

I am just curious who told you that nikon's lenses have subpar build quality. I think they are one of the best build in any given price class.

I agree that both zooms are kind of big (though I don't mind even for travel). I think 20-70mm will pair better with A7cii. A7cii has more pixels so you can crop more. You can use it on nikon too with adapter (lots of people do), but nikon also has it's own 24-200mm which is a bit more balanced on bigger Z5, and they have a lighter, but slower, 24-105mm too.

I will say this though. After having owned A7cr and A6700 several times, the lack of buttons and focus point joystick are really missed. I am much happier taking A7riii (or nikon Z6/z7) on a trip with me then azcxxx.

Nikon Z lenses are build of low quality plastic and metal compared to Sony G(M) lenses or even chinese lenses like Viltrox or Meike and they lack an aperture ring and other function elements. In newer Z glass like the 24-120 and 2nd gen 24-70 and 70-200 the quality is a bit better.

As for now every person which has had the chance to use or at least hold both cameras favours the Nikon.

I would get the A7V or R6iii over the Z5II.

Usually my first lens would be a f/1.4 prime. Shooting with a zoom in low light is hopeless, while the prime works just fine in the day.

The second lens can be a zoom

The A7V seems almost ideal but the price is just to high for a hobbyist. R6II (not III) would be proffered for commercial work, It's arguably better than any Nikon but the extremely limited lens selection makes it the worst choice for an amateur.

As for shooting in low light, I've shot steel mills and coal mines with zero issues with an F4 zoom. It's great to have a modern BSI sensor and in body stabilisation.
