It's always shocking to learn when one of your musical heroes dies, but even more so when it's someone you've photographed. I shot Ray at his home in Los Angeles for Keyboard Magazine. I remember him being very engaging in conversation and very polite as well, even though we had invaded his home. Here's one of the images that did not get used in the magazine, but one that I like.

Love the photo Peter. I like the flipped tonal contrasts between subject and background on the left side. And a very engaging smile. RIP Ray.

I heard of his death on NPR this morning. Wonderful photo of a talented man.

Seems like every day we're losing another icon of the 60's music scene...very nice image...must've been fun to shoot.

Thank you all. Ray was a gracious gentleman to me. The background on the left was his stainless steel refrigerator. You often have to improvise when on location and this was no different. It does appear that so many of that generation's great musicians are getting to that age.
