I love how your pictures convey a specific mood, and the person having the portraits done, it seems is caught at just the opportune moment. Very good set, you should be proud.

Listen Lisa, for what it's worth - you are so much like me, especially when I started out, it's not even funny. Any crit I recieved would either be scoffed away in contrast to the majority who enjoyed it; I would cite people to show me there own work in defense to criticism of mine; I thought I was king sh*t of photography (and I still do in many regards) and didn't need to hear negativity from anyone. It was quite the complex to deal with, and to some extent, I still do.
However, and I mean this very truly, this attitude will only hinder your growth as an artist, and as a professional. You will inevitably regard how you're acting now as a truly missed opportunity to grow and, if you were at all like me, feel embarassed and shamed with yourself.
It's awesome to love your own work and even try to explain your choices, but there is no reason to try and fool those who know better in regards to editing; no reason to justify images with an explanation of how much a client liked it. It's obvious you have a huge fan following which is super - I imagine a large source of your income comes from social media marketing like this and selling yourself to your followers as much as your work - but try and do better then I did with my conduct. If you 'quit' the site before, it's more then fair to assume you have a personal issue with critique and negativity (who wants sugar-coated crit?); just state 'no critiques please' at the start of your posts. Hell, I used to and sometimes still do. But keep in mind because a large number love you, doesn't mean the minority are wrong; I think my FB page sits under...400?...people right now, but I imagine my past client list would probably suprise you.
Anyways, keep posting, and I'll keep posting in your threads, too. All the best.
edit - Actually, the fooling in regards to editing does make sense - you sell 'retouching' classes (as that one chap here loves to talk about in all your threads. Is he on payroll?), so I guess saying everything that is done to a photo wouldn't be very sensical....Show more →
