I asked the same Q from fellow owners. The consensus is that even Nikon USA version don't start with US prefix. That includes mine.
This lens may not be as sharp as the otus or sigma but I would take it any day over either of them if I shot nikon. Every photo I have seen taken with it is just dripping with character in ways that the Sigma could only dream of achieving. Great photos everyone!

Three totally different lenses .
I could see having the Art along with the 58G or 50L in one's kit, if one likes 50mm as a general purpose lens. I'd take the Art first, personally, but if I shot more portraits, I'd agree with you wholeheartedly.
