Rich - Nice images. Hey, did you ever try shooting your M Rokkor 40/2 CLE at night? I did for the first time tonight and got a lot of weird reflections/flairs. The lens seems great during the day but just wondering if you've ever seen anything like this. Both were shot at either f/8 or f/11.
Thank you. No I haven't shot the Minolta 40mm f2 M-Rokkor at night. Unless I run into Allentown or Macungie I really wouldn't have that much night photography with much in the way of night time lights
As to lens flare, yes it is a problem with the lens and you do have to be cognizant of it. I intentionally shot at and into the sun relatively early after I got the lens to try to ascertain the effects and how to work around it.

I guess I was hopeful that the later model CLE version of the lens could deal with reflections and flare but now that I know, I have other options at night including the 35/2.8FE, Zeiss 35/2 FE, and the Canon 40/2.8 pancake.
I have added some more photos taken with the Minolta M-Rokkor 40/2 CLE on the A7 to the flickr set linked below. The raw files have been adjusted for exposure, clarity and sharpening in LR5RC3. All are un-cropped except DSC2577 which has been cropped to roughly half size. ISO and shutter speed are shown and apertures were mainly around f5.6. There is hardly any evidence of CA except in the top right of DSC2545. Corners are soft in all cases but perfectly acceptable for me. If you look very closely you might just see some very slight colour shading in the open landscape shots but it is not noticeable I think.
