Yes, the performance of the GM 300mm f/2 plus 2X TC combo is excellent alright but if it is coming down to IQ, I still prefer the GM 600mm f/4 lens over the combo. And, of course, the extra 1-stop light advantage also helps but it is bigger and heavier. No free lunch...
Picked up the Tamron 35-150 F2-2.8 lens and went to the local zoo - so heavy but for a single lens when out with the family, I am pretty happy with it! The bokeh on fast shutter speeds looks a little off unfortunately which I think is due to the A7CR's shutter?... Have to remember to stop down to F4 maybe and that would slow the shutter down and sharpen it up a little bit as well possibly.
A few shots from my first trip to Olympic NP. This was my first time using the Sigma 20-200 and I was quite happy with how much "simpler" it was to run and gun instead of swapping between the 16-35 PZ and my Tamron 50-400. I was obsessed with finding a Bald Eagle which, thankfully, my wife was happy to oblige my obsession and I was able to find one when I had the Sigma 500 f5.6 on camera.
