Evan, I like the first one better. It strikes me as more "natural." The clarity added in the second version does not really impart more information. And I believe the mood set be the softer tones in #1 is better and more satisfying in the long run. Of course my opinion might change if we were comparing prints of the two and not emitive images.

My wife and I have yet to visit the canyon, but there is no way she will ever give me the opportunity for this kind of image!
