Snow Buntings have arrived for the winter and I especially like watching them around water.

Shot at ISO 800, 500mm F4 IS II and 1.4x III, 7D Mark II (except first at last image were shot using the 2X III tele-converter)

It is getting harder for me to resist the 7D II as I see more and more good pictures being posted!

I just noticed that I shot the first and last image using the 2X III tele-converter giving an effective focal length of 1600mm. These were shot from the car using a bean bag on the window sill.

Lovely buntings! I've never seen them this time of year, only in the summer, in the high arctic. I love these images and your setup. I have the same, and find it the ultimate small bird camera!

Shutter speed is a real key with this camera.

Andy, these are wonderful!!! I am happy to see another person who has found the magic sauce for the 7D2....I don't feel comfortable with it yet but hopefully things will click soon enough.
