Its nicely lit, and well composed with enough context as noted above. The expression looks competent to me: as someone who has been around chefs, they often have the sort of world-weariness softened with a hint of humor one finds in senior NCOs in the military. I can also see how this image could be used for commercial work with text overlays and such.
My only nits: did you dodge his face up a bit? It seems a smidge glowy. Just the tiniest bit, where the shadows aren't as deep as in the rest of the frame. Probably a personal taste thing.
