Here's a series of a juvenile black crowned night heron stretching his wings as he was still "learning to fly". He could fly only for short distances at this point and he was flapping like crazy for awhile. Mike Rucci was with me for these shots last summer. We nicknamed this guy "Flappy".

Herb, I like 'em all but # 4 and # 9 stand out for some reason. I've never seen one of these as a juvenile.

Thanks Ken, Bright morning sun on salt water grasses. The sun was right over my shoulder angling downwards the same as my shooting angle.
