Yes, I told my vendor the reason why I returned my lens and even sent him a link to this thread.

Thanks Boris. I did the same.
Unless CV gets its QA act together soon, I might lose interest in their products altogether.
I wonder whether QA for their 12 and 10 mm lenses will be any better?
I certainly won't be pre-ordering those.

Just out of curiosity and I know nobody knows the exact or actual answer here but from just reviews and user's experience as posted on online forums, like FM here - does the CV 15mm III in M mount fare better than the FE version with respect to the QC issue? We had such high hopes that the FE version would be tweaked as such to account for the Sony sensor stack thickness for even a better performance of the FE than the M-mount. But now it seems that the QC suffers big time for whatever reason .

Fred got 3 equally bad copies....the first two were M mount, the last was E mount. I don't know what that says, other than there's problems on the M mount side as well.

I don't know anything, but my own experience, about their QA or QC or lack thereof.
Looking at Guy's Choppy VM lens and Fred's E lens and their results, it seems to me there might be some beneficial processing going on in the A7r2 with the E version. With the E-mount version CA seems reduced.

I'll probably do a Big Bronco test with the new E just for kicks against my files of Choppy. See if there is any benefits on the E. Fred did infinity test so I'll do the midrange

I have a Voigtlander 15/4.5 III E-mount coming this week. I hate playing the lens Lottery! But, it looks like a good one can found.
As I mentioned in a previous post my Loxia 21 and Batis 18 are superb, corner to corner. It took a few days to learn to manually focus the Batis properly.
Question, at what approximate minimum focal length does distortion become a problem?
I document a lot of specific terrain features in the mountains where distortion would be detrimental. I can't be creative.

Sent mine back to CameraQuest today. Like the others, I did let Stephen know what the problem was. He's sending me another copy in exchange, fingers crossed.

Just got my CV 15mm/4.5 for E-mount and found that the moment of truth.....Looks like a bad copy with smeared corner! The lens is going right back in the box and shipped out to B&H.

You might want to try objects at distance, it seems as though the upper left corner is the furtherest from the lens. At least thats sort of how it looks, were you shooting down?
p.32 #13 · Official: Voigtlander 15mm f/4.5 III E-mount
Yes, I was shooting down....Will try to shoot another object at distance...but I do not have high hope...I also have the Batis 18 and will compare it with the CV15 too.

To me above that brown spot on the left crop it's all smearing effect it's not a OOF effect. Kinda looks liking a motion blur .
I'm not so much worried about how people are testing the 15 because it has a lot of depth anyway for such a wide it's really the smearing I'm constantly seeing in these bad copies. Choppy never did any of that even if it was out of focus. I get Fred's copy this week he sold me and I'll do Big Bronco just so folks can see what to look for . But bottom line smearing is a return. Honestly you need to tell your dealers as Cosina needs to fix something because obviously some copies are good as we have seen but it's not a good ratio at all.

I'm really worried about the 10 and 12

Wow, so many bad copies. I hope they don't get repackaged and resold... I can only imagine how their new wider 10 and 12mm will fare...

So folks know Camera quest is the west coast distribution hub and Photo Village is the East coast. Seriously at this point I would buy directly from them. Like Fred said we have no idea if there selling copies that are returned to Amazon and other retailers. But maybe buying direct is the best way. Hell call them first , tell them there is a damn good chance you will be playing the lottery. Point to this thread , it has become the only true source of reliable data US users.
