There was a month long lull in my yard with very few hummers other than one dominant male rufous. In the last week or so, many have come out of the woodwork...err...forest...now seeing young ones of both Anna and Rufous and finally saw a male Anna back around. Here are some shots from the past four days...

Those shots are the 2xTC on a f/5.6 lens so wide open is f/11. It is actually amazing how good the AF and IQ is with such a compromised combo. It is a sunny day combo for sure.

Thanks Jeff. I admired Ted, BB and Birdies hummer work for years when I lived too far north for hummers to visit. Keep up shooting the hummers...they are actually very easy to shoot as they are hovering, not flying. Getting them to visit interesting flowers and get a good background is the harder part. Shooting them backing off a feeder is the easy part.

Thanks for the tips and motivation! I've messaged both Birdie and BB about particular plants and flowers that they enjoy, and both have been extremely helpful in their replies. Now I just need to go out, buy some and then manage to keep them alive!
