Nice work. I know you must work fast before the animal moves and the dew falls. I used to do dewed butterflies and dewed spider webs too. Just as soon as the direct sunlight illuminates their body they begin vibrating and shake off the dew. Thinking about going back to it.
Can you give me a general regional location of where you saw that Black and Yellow Argiope spider? I think that is what it is. We called them Golden Garden Spiders when we were boys around here.
They're all gone from here (along with the toads, lightning bugs, crickets, etc) and have been for a couple of decades. I can only guess why. Lawn chemicals from others. It wipes out the base of the food web (energy web) and so there are no calories left for any animal above. They disappear.
Please.... can you say generally where you captured that shot?
I also use the 500PF for butterflies and other pseudo macro work. I try to get as close to MFD as I can with the D850. If the subject is large enough and I can get to MFD I've got 8000+ pixels on the long side! Posted the following last week on FM.
The wasp spider (Argiope bruennichi) photo was made in southern Germany.
Unfortunately they are getting quite scarce locally as well - widespread use of insecticides is definitely taking its toll.
You're right - you have to work fast - the Swarovski glitter is quickly vaporised by the rising sun.
