While I was out last night testing out my new CV 21mm, I also got a few keepers with the 100-400mm. I don't use it every time I'm out shooting landscape, but I always carry it and find it's one of my favorite landscape lenses.

I really like that first shot. I’m an ocean/water person, but the shot reminds me that “focus” isn’t always the entire picture or even what you think the subject might be. I like that you focused on the breaking wave at the bottom of the image.
Excellent. It also confirms my thoughts that you really can get all types of shots with the 100-400.
Hopefully my next lens if I can sell some of my others...

I have a dilemma and hope someone can provide feedback. Over a year ago I sold off the 100400GM for the 200600G, but missed the 100400GM MFD...you can get near macro shots with great AF tracking (especially with the A7RIV). You can also shoot birds, flowers, butterflies and dragonflies with this one lens. That said, I still own and very much like my 200600G. So I have some overlap...and wonder if I should have just gone with the 90mm macro for my closeup work? Yes the 100400GM has way faster AF for tracking small critters but the 90 has decent enough AF, and the manual focus ring on that lense is great. Looking for opinions between the two. Although they seem very different by focal length...both are useful for nature and close up photography (100400GM is more versatile but less effective as macro )
Thanks

In the right conditions, you can add some AF extension tubes such as the Kenko to allow closer focus with the 200-600mm G lens. You will not be able to focus to infinity with the lens, but will allow much closer focus.

Yes I hear both the 100400GM and 200600G handle extension tubes well...but which provides better results? The 100400GM can already focus 3 ft. Away at 400mm with .35x magnification. The A7RIV allows insane cropping... so i didn't consider the 200600G for closeups . I was thinking of pro and cons between the 90mm macro vs 100400GM for subjects such as butterflies, dragonflies, small lizards etc. Thanks!!
