Here are several recent pictures taken at 800 mm, with the 2.0x teleconverter. At 800 mm, the minimum focusing distance is 66 ± 1 cm (ca. 26 in) from the front of the lens, and the magnification ratio is ca. 1:1.4 according to my measurements. At the close distances, the depth of filed is very narrow, thus the main difficulty is getting the focus in the right place. Sony should add bug eye autofocus!

A few days ago, I was looking at the gulls near Lake Huron, mostly for technical reasons, practicing BIF photography. The birds were doing the usual things: flying, diving, quarreling. Only when I looked at the pictures, I saw that was truly "much ado about nothing" - they were diving for and quarreling about - pebbles! I don't know the reason for this behavior.
All photos are at 800 mm (with a 2x TC)
