A few birds from my porch (all with the 1.4x teleconverter). I'm not sure of the ID of the hummingbird flashing the orange gorget -i t only visited for one afternoon.

This unremarkable image might be of interest for purely technical reasons.
This is a crop from a picture acquired at 800 mm and 25,600 ISO. I spent some time doing post-processing simply to learn whether a useable image could be obtained under such extreme conditions (the highest native ISO of the A1 is 32,000). The challenges are obvious. On a subject such as birds, heavy denoising of a picture taken at a high ISO runs the risk of irreparable loss of detail. This particular subject is easily going to betray the lack of detail - much more than many others, because of the fine structure of the feathers. No pixel-peeping is necessary to tell whether a bird is "sharp" or not. I am not sure whether I succeeded in producing a useable image, or not. Nevertheless, perhaps some members of this forum might find this exercise useful, or at least entertaining.
