50mm don’t normally don’t have a lot of field curvature. Of course that depends on design too
The problem is the sensor stack thickness the lens was designed for. As an example, the Loxia 50/2 was ported from the Zeiss ZM 50/2 and tweaked to perform better on the Sony sensor towards the corners. I'm not saying a future CV 50/1.2 E-mount will do better than the VM version but it's definitely a possibility.
I can say with some confidence that the cv 50mm f1.2 performs much better than the 40 which I love a lot although I'm using it on the fuji gfx 50s. In fact, I like the 50 a lot better. That is a testament to both its improvement concerning field curvature and better sensor coverage on the gfx.

I was wandering how this would compare with the very famous Canon FD 50mm f1.2 L. It was one of those stellar lenses of the time. And it looks small and convenient to be adapted...
Anybody owns both and or have compared them? As far as I know it is selling for 600€.

I have used a good copy of that lens recently on the Leica M240 and the Sony A7RMKII.
The Canon is almost as sharp at f1.2, which is amazing for the age, and it performs better at closer focusing distance,(it has an fle).
The colours arent as saturated and the Bokeh can be quite jaring like alot of Aspherical lenses of that age.
Cross the frame uniformity was also better at fast speeds.
Overall a good experience, and I regret selling the lens.
Oh I find the FD adapter a little annoying as it needs to be rotated to lock the apperture mechanism.
So is the LH-8 a better lens hood for the 50mm than the LH-10?
The difference in the effect it has on image quality compared with the significant increase in size doesn't seem worth it to me

I am using LH-8 since I already had it. But the larger LH-10 is specifically designed for the 50. Fred posted sample images comparing with both hoods earlier in this thread. IMO the difference was not enough for me to buy the LH-10 also. Maybe if I didn't already have the 8 then I would buy the 10.
Now that perhaps some of the early acquisition excitement has waned, anything new to report about lens characteristics, etc.? Everyone still using it happy with it? Haven't moved on to something new, or back to a previous favorite 50? Thanks!
I'm looking forward to when this lens is available in the FE mount hopefully in the 1st half on 2019. If anyone is considering getting a Fuji GFX camera then this lens covers the 44x33 sensor with practically no vignette. There are several outstanding examples of the lens being used on the GFX at f1.2 in the Fuji GFX Facebook Group. This lens equates in 35mm terms to a 39.5mm f0.95 lens

Great to know--thank you! Do you have any info how the m 40 1.2 covers?
