Going through my images, my favorite was not easy to choose. I got to o to a few interesting places this year and that made the choice even more difficult. There are some really amazing images in this thread.

Well, I'm almost too ashamed of my bird collection in 2018 to even post, but since this is a Nature & Wildlife forum, I'll post one decent quality bird image, and an invertebrate.
This first one I like because the light was decent and it allowed a lot of detail to show up well.
I really liked seeing this little critter on the beach, as it was something I'd not seen previously, the colour is striking, and so are the fine details. Velella velella is just plain cool.

I pick this as my second shot. This is one of my favs and wants on our trip to Costa Rica. I wanted a clean background without the sky. They tend to fly high or very close to the trees. I was happy to get this shot. Seeing the Macaws in the wild is something special. This was handheld with the 600mm and 1.4x on our last morning on the Osa Peninsula.

Love that shot Bruce! If you're gonna have a sign in the shot that's the way to do it! Perfect timing.
I finally got around to picking out my second image. I went with a "first for me" Juvenile White Ibis that I found earlier this summer down in the low country.
Merry Christmas to all and to all some good light!

Thanks Dave... it was a good mix of timing and luck.
What a delight to see this thread after not being on FM for the past few weeks. Thanks to Ted for starting and for all those who contributed.
Here are my two.

Clicking through this thread is quite a humbling experience. The level of skill on display on these boards never ceases to amaze me. I haven't had a lot of time for wildlife photography this year, but I'll play.
Any day out in nature photographing wildlife is special! I love Orange County CA for its variety of habitats from the ocean and coastal wetlands to inland county parks with oak woodland and coastal sage scrub. There’s even my backyard with Black Phoebes that raise young every year! Birds, reptiles, dragonflies, native plants, tracks, sunsets, and more await me when I venture out with my camera. I wish all of you wonderful experiences with nature in 2018!
