Well really 10 and a half days 😂😂😂 But who's counting! My local store said they might get it early next week but I can't have it until the 30th 😭 At least they're giving me free rental on the sigma 135 in the meantime

Honestly, I'm looking at the MTF from Roger and wondering if I should just get another Sigma 😂😂😂 Not sure the GM would give me anything extra on the A7III and A9.
20 fps.
I was taking the lens to sports yesterday (table tennis) and it surely delivers with fast accurate eye-af tracking, excellent sharpness , 20 fps: out of every series I've taken there was a keeper.
I was going to post some sample images, but I can't make the Image Upload server accept my card :-(
The images from my first excursion with this lens are extraordinary. I find myself using manual focus for best results. I'm unable to focus manually using an optical viewfinder, but the manual focus magnification on the Sony A7R III means I can.
I'll see what I can do about uploading my examples.
I went to my local store with the intention of maybe buying one. It's a really nice, insanely sharp and fast focusing lens but sadly I noticed that it was a decentered copy (as usual for me).
Here's a quick example that compares 2 corners at f1.8, on a 24MP sensor:
I repeated the test a few times with the same result everytime. This was not an acceptable copy for me so I didn't buy it.
Did some corner testing. Focused on the same subject at infinity using center and corner AF points with A7RIII. Took multiple shots and chose the SHARPEST shot for each location. AF accuracy by far is the biggest factor in determining sharpness as the corner AF points is a bit iffy.
Focus target is the mitsubishi Aircon unit.
I just got both the sigma 40mm f1.4 and sony 135mm f1.8 recently
Honestly, I did not shoot much test shots with the 135mm as I am happy with almost everything I saw. with the 135mm. The sigma 40mm on the other hand.... its bokeh is yucky.
Took the best corner (top left) and worst corner (bottom right) and repeated the test.
Conclusion... all corners look pretty sharp IF you get the AF right which means shooting multiple shots and choosing the best.
I can't find much negative about it except of that strange ring flare caused by the glossy thread. This can be quite annoying and unexpected as it happens in angles where you usually don't expect flare. So flocking or hooding - I will probably do the latter
Otherwise, I really need to calm me down to prevent me from using superlatives in every column. As Fred already pointed out: Great lens, great choice!

Excellent review, Jannik. Is this your own personal purchase or a review lens?
