My first visit to the magnificent North Rim to photograph a well photographed icon...Wotans Throne. We had sensational lighting after it hailed for 25 minutes a few hours earlier across the mesa. I showed up at the lookout and watched the clouds slowly vanish during sunset allowing huge beams of warm light to light up the Throne. Sometimes we get lucky right? Ill say I created my own luck that day because I drove all the way from Hovenweep NM to the Grand Canyon because the forecast was calling for huge precipitation. Chasing the light actually worked for me that day!
