With our move to Spain, with the great deals available I have done the unthinkable and traded my D850 now for another Z6 and other items Travelling and needing to lighten up we now have two Z6's. Marisa is thrilled to have an easy and light system to work with yet fun.

Some shots from today just with the 28E and Z6.

Congratulations on the new camera Charles. I too find that Lighter, smaller is better. The IQ from those cameras is class leading as your images show.

You seem to be enjoying the mirrorless experience for many reasons. Me too. Like you I suffered with giving up my DSLR, but now, am very happy with all things mirrorless.

Thanks Steve If I was still staying in Australia I would keep my D850 as I have done a lot of action horse events but for travelling to Spain I had to cull much of my gear. To be honest I do not differentiate DSLR or MILC as bad implementation of either technology does not work for me.

As shown above the FTZ adapter works brilliantly and the size, weight comparisons is can be surprising for many lenses particularly if you are comparing f/1.4. I had come from Sony for about 3 years and then I preferred the D810/D750 for much of my work. The delineation of DSLR/MILC is mute if it does not work

Thanks Beautiful area Seville...

We are moving to Pontevedra where my father in law and Marisa's relatives are. It is a beautiful area and very much a rough cut diamond with so much to offer. Fortunately my parents were all Latvian so I have a EU citizenship as does Marisa so the move there is relatively easy.

Another comparison for those still using F mount gear. My Sony workhorse was the A7rII and FE 35/1.4 and for now I am using the Z6 and 35 Art with FTZ. The weight is the same and marginally longer and it works very well. With my 24, 35 and 50 Art lenses I have updated to the latest FW and reset of my calibrations to 0 that were appropriate for our D850 and D750 so there is no possible interference of AF calibrations working the Z6's. Ultimately I will acquire all the Z mount lenses but for now having the lens in hand is more important than too many expenses.

Some of the coolest scenery in the world. I look forward to more images.

Congrats Charles, I look for more out of you as well.

I am about to head home from the SEMA show where I took my Z6 and the new 24mm S lens. I will post some pics when I get home and catch up. For those that don’t know, the SEMA show is the largest automotive trade show in the world.

Figured I'd try a Z50 & see what it might do. It was late when I got it home & sun was beginning to set.

1st one is ISO6400 & the 2nd is ISO32000. Both shot with 500PF.

Z50, 500PF, 500mm, 1/400, F6.3, ISO 6400

Z50, 500PF, 500mm, 1/2000, F5.6, ISO 32,000

Quick question Is there a short cut to "minimum shutter speed" directly or do you still have to access via the ISO sensitivity settings ?

No shortcut

I was looking for that my first week as well. I used to use auto iso/min ss in A mode for some sessions.

But after a little while shooting with this camera - I no longer had the desire to use that arrangement. Perhaps it’s the EVF. Been using full manual ever since.

Charles your 50/1.2 looks pretty clean wide open on the Z6. Nice shots.

And 100% agree on the short cut. They need to fix it via next firmware. In the mean time it’s an option for the U’s.

Thank you Mathieu Yes with the ability to nail the focus with the Z6 EVF even without magnification makes a huge difference with this lens. Even a 0.5 cm makes a difference to what seems sharp and what does not.

Hopefully they fix the short cut soon with the next FW

Charles, Congratulation on getting the Z6! These images with 50/1.2 AIS are real nice. I think that Z6 is better suited than Z7 for some of older Nikkor legacy lenses.

Thank you very much Wonderful set of shots!!

The Z6 has been on my radar as I am moving to a lot more videos. I no longer print large or have the need for high MP's. Sure it is nice but my ideal was 36 MP with the D810. The Z6 is faster and better low light so for now it is ideal

Some learning shots with the Z6 + kit lens. The EVF stutter with cont/H* is going to take some getting used to, not a fan at all. I got lots of dog shot fails today with nose or shoulders in focus using dynamic area. All these shots are SOOC on monochrome/neutral.

... ok finally figured out how to correctly link these things, phew
