So it will be roughly equivalent to an excellent 28mm f1.8 (only using the somewhat reduced center portion of the 24mm f1.4)? . . . Great, imho.
Yeah, just many people may be very happy with that. Others might be a bit disappointed if they didn't realize that it won't have quite the high ISO performance of the lens and 24mm and not just a reduction in resolution.

I don't think so. There was no comparison of the overall rendering in this review. On page 5 you can see complete pictures taken with both lenses, albeit in smaller sizes, and for me the colors of the Loxia look a bit better.
Of course, the last samples of Fred look great but these are great pictures, not necessarily because of the used lens.
However, I see a continuous improvement of the Voigtländer lenses. For my taste, the rendering (for landscape shots) of the 60mm f2 was good, but much worse than that of the 50mm Loxia, the 40mm f1.2 was better, but still not as good as the Loxias. I have not yet tested the 50mm f1.2, but after all I've seen here, I like the Loxia a bit better. So the Loxia stays for the time being.
I think Voigtländer is coming - to my taste - now slowly where the Loxias were a few years ago, not in terms of sharpness, but color rendering. If I would like their rendering as much as the rendering of the Loxias/Batis, I would replace my Loxias immediately, because the haptics annoy me (mounting and unmounting, scratch sensitivity, sensitivity to mechanical impacts) and last but not least I like the sunstars of the last Voigtländer lenses even better....Show more →
I'm sorry, I was referring to the older "classic" and Milvus series. Does Cosina make the Loxia and Batis?
Never a truer word, and the real win for high res sensors if they retain overall performance from lower res cameras. It assists - ironically enough, given industry directions - older lenses and in fact any lens with outer frame fall-off. For cross-frame high performers, you get greater extension.
And hi-res sensors are boosters of good lenses. A win all round. Fun fact: 61mp gets you an APS-C crop of 27mp, just below Canon's R sensor (30mp). 135mm gives you an even 200mm at 27mp. Save on lenses! And carry weight, and lens swaps.

Mine came today. It’s actually smaller than I thought. So that’s a bonus
Soooooo this finalized my MF kit
CV 12 petals cut off by ME and my Dremel
CV 21 1.4
CV 50 1.2
Why cut the petals off the 12? And what do you use for a lens cap? (Just about to order this lens)
I have gone with the 21f3.5 as I wanted to keep it small, will keep my Loxia for a bit until I see where I go with AF primes, but I may end up with both cv21s

Cut the petals off for more than one filter. I have mine set up to fit a 62mm thread right inside the hood line
Sorry for hijacking this thread, you got this set up for the Severn5 system? And have you glued an adapter in?
I found your old thread but it wasn’t clear
