This Spring heralded an abundance of the purple/blue wildflower called Lupine on the shores of Lake Folsom in Northern California. It was the best showing in nine years of my visits to the park and according to the Park Superintendent, the best in seventeen years. I'm blessed to live a short drive from the lake and over the past month have visited on many sunrises and sunsets. It was a really magnificent display from Mother Nature. She put on a show for us before what is shaping up to be a difficult drought ridden year ahead for us Californian's. A dry 2020 and dry winter have left reservoirs like Folsom Lake low. This is one of the contributors to the super bloom. Low water levels exposed sandy nutrient rich soils that the lupine love. So this beautiful spectacle is a harbinger of a season of wildfires. We've already had several wildfires spring up this weekend.
Beautiful set of images. Second last is my favorite.
Let's hope that the Instagram crowd won't flock to that location like they did in 2019 when the poppy superbloom happened in the L.A. area and people felt the strong urge to behave like a bunch of idiots.

Absolutely lovely! #3 and #4 are my favorites. Great sharpness and detail in the flowers and grass in your foregrounds.
Thank you for commenting and letting me know your favourite. I really appreciate that. I did focus stack which helped a lot.

Thank you for commenting and letting me know your favourite. I really appreciate that. Unfortunately the IG crowd did descend on the location. Large patches of flowers were sadly trampled. That's one reason I held my photos back till now. So many of us humans have little respect for nature. I just can't image people going to sit in their neighbours garden bed to take a photo but it's okay to do it in a State Park. Sheesh. Fortunately the IG'ers are too lazy to walk for more than 15 min, so with a little effort it was possible to get away from the crowds.

All are very nice, but I prefer the composition in the first one the best. Beautiful work. Did you use focus stacking on these?
Thank you for your feedback. Much appreciated. Yes the photos with flowers in close foreground were focus stacked. I tried to capture all in one using F22, as a backup but fortunately the stacking worked well for me in this case. I have had plenty of fails though not this time out.

Thanks Mark! Thanks for calling out Marlon Holden. I hadn't know of his work so went to check it out. I really like what he does and just saw his shot of the area over on IG.

You have my vote for featured thread! Amazing, but #4, just WOW! You feel like you could swim in them.
Thanks so much. Appreciate the vote a lot. I was talking to a fella walking his dogs down there. He's lived there his entire life and never seen anything like this years bloom, so perhaps it was a once in a lifetime experience...
