I spend most of my shooting with a tele trying to isolate a bug or a bird that today I decided to mount my 16-35 f/4 on the D850 and go the other way.

I must admit Fred, I ventured a guess on this and got it wrong. The dance was either a courtship ritual or a couple of males competing for a female. I guessed it was two males competing. Turns out it is courtship. For me, the appearance and behavior of these Western Grebes are peculiar enough to hold my interest like Common Loons and Monarchs do in Maine summers. Some range maps show them sometimes getting into AZ/NM. That’s exciting to me.
