The Lear's (or Indigo) Macaw is a critically endangered species found in remote NE Brazil. They nest and roost in sandstone cliffs. The red and blue contrast is simply astounding.
This was a challenging shoot because the lighting conditions kept changing. We arrived before dawn and stayed through sunrise. One of the greatest birding experiences of my life.
These were tough to edit due to the ever changing lighting conditions. I welcome any helpful critiques. Thanks for looking.
I love them all. I was in Pantanal a couple years ago photographing Jaguars but also got some nice Hyacinth Macaw shots but non inflight. These birds are Beautiful.
insanely nice, David. I just came back from an Ecuadorian Amazon rain forest visit and got to see some amazing parrots and parakeets. thanks for sharing.
