They're both strong images, but I find the bright comforter (or whatever he has his head on) distracting since it's brighter than his face. Love the expression and composition.

I see what you mean. If had had the chance to optimize, I might have taken it away. However, not sure if I would have been alert enough at that moment. It was a scene enfolding so quickly, when he laid down and rested for a few seconds giving me that smile. So I took the chance. Thanks for your feedback! Always helpful!
For what it's worth, I would have taken the shot as well. Sometimes the expression overcomes everything else. Maybe you could tone the brightness down a bit in post processing.
