Were you in the Asheville area?
Oh ALL over! Started from Shenendoah and made it all the way down to the smokies at one point
It was heavy fog when I was in the asheville area sadly, which made for its own type of special shots, given a little bit of snow cover on one morning up by Sugar Mountain, but still need to go through some of those yet!
Starting to gather them in this flickr album. I was going to kick up my own thread at some point once I go through a few more and decide what are faves!

OK Ross, these are Spectacular shots. Love 'em.
Thanks much Gregg! Your exquisite Death Valley dunes shots from last year inspired me so much that it became one of the reasons I took off last Christmas for a couple months in the West including some time at DV.

This is a really stunning set of photographs. Your love of the area shines through in these photos
I wish there was a love button for your comment, I really value you saying this because it gets to the heart of why I photograph - to express the love and emotions I feel for the beauty of the land. I'm sure that's a commonality among photographers.
My first sight of the Blue Ridge was in 2008, after having grown up in the west for 40+ years and photographed most of the grand views - but there was something special in these lovely round ridges covered in deciduous forests. Being back here this autumn I have teared up a couple times at the sheer sense of beauty before me 😍 It's a humbling and joyous experience.

OK, great. Did you take good shots of dunes? Post them? Let us see them....
I might be heading back to dunes next weekend. Temp is low, sun low, should be fun.

I got a few I like including a panorama of a crazy sandstorm, and have one of the shots hanging in my office gallery. I'll try to post them.

Thanks very much Phil! That image is one of my favorites also. I thought I was done shooting for the day as darkness was minutes away and had just exited the Parkway near Maggie Valley, when I came across the fog rolling down through layers of hills. I pulled over in the rain and remained in the dry and warm truck while shooting handheld out the window, so thankful for lens VR (or camera IBIS) in these situations.
Cheers,
Ross
